Travel poster details

This is an original vintage travel poster design by contemporary artist Henry Rivers. Inspired by vintage travel advertising of the 20th century, Henry illustrates the world’s best-loved places with cool colours, playful details and a minimalist style.

This, the first vintage travel poster in our collection, depicts New York and the Empire State Building. At a colossal 443m, the Empire State Building is shown climbing high above its neighbouring towers, dominating the skyline of mid-town Manhattan. Since it’s construction in 1930 the Empire State Building has inspired countless artworks, travel advertisements, and photographs. Our travel poster plays on the tower’s massive scale, balanced with the Art Deco detailing of its facade. In the background sit the giant towers of Wall Street. The text reads Visit New York.
