Unchanged since the twenties, when Howard Carter was busy in the Valley of the Kings, the Great Pyramid of Giza is truly epic. Cairo at dusk, this illustration relies on the massiveness of these ancient constructions against the delicate plane. My strongest memory of Egypt is how tiny Cairo looked behind these giants and how from the reverse perspective they playfully dominate the skyline from all over the flat sprawling city.
